No really, where did May go??? I know you’re thinking, yeah… yeah… such a drama queen you are, Peach.
But no, really. Allow me to make a list for you of where my month went. Because I love lists.
After returning from Cali, it was packing and prep to move out of the townhome by May 20th. This was made a wee bit more complicated due to Jersey being away for work for the three weeks prior to the move. Hence the bitchy tweets about having to spackle and paint over nail holes with color-coordinated paint per room. Because really, who asks a tenant to do that? Oh yeah, unless the home is being listed FOR SALE the day after I moved out. Then of course it’s my job to drop mad money on supplies I don’t have just to make sure I get back my full security deposit grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I may or may not have been a bit stressed out. And hormonal. And planning a wedding. Moving on.
4 days before the move was Wedding Meeting Mania weekend. My parents arrived on Thursday and Jersey returned on Friday, just in time for two important meetings with the wedding planner and the wedding design team. How did they go? It was… Holy RapidFireDecisionMaking. I thought my head would explode at one point, but you know what? It was GOOD to make the choices and move on. Lots accomplished and I’m so excited with what we chose! More on that soon.
After the parents left town, we had one day to finish packing before the move (and I had to work at my real job).
MOVE DAY. A few things I’m grateful for: Hiring movers. It was my first time doing so and they were worth every. damn. penny. Friends and my brother, for the use of their muscles and their trucks. We went the route of packing ourselves and moving the breakables, electronics, etc. in our own vehicles. The movers handled the furniture, big things and boxes only. Totally the way to go! NOTHING was broken and the only things missing are some shelf pegs for my IKEA armoire. No big deal at all. The movers came in under their quoted price, which never happens!!! and were totally professional and fun to work with. I know…
The day after the move, Jersey had to return to work and so did I. But there was the inevitable few days of installations of cable, internet, security, etc. which ate up soooooo much ridiculous time. There was a no-show, which killed a four hour chunk and made me stabby. The rest of last week was finalizing all those details and trying to manage the stress and worry and cranky and not lose my shit. There may have been a point where I called Jersey in the middle of the day, snarling about one appointment that took six F*(&)ING hours to complete. If it were possible to behead someone over the phone, I think I did it. Thankfully, he understood and knows how to calm my fiery ass down.
HOLIDAY WEEKEND – I’ll tell you, after allllll of that, having this past long weekend was a huge blessing. Jersey returned home and we did a tiny bit of unpacking, but mostly just enjoyed the new neighborhood, restaurants, copious amounts of alcohol and the POOL. Woohoo for drinky pool time! It was also great to learn a bit about the new area, like running on the Atlanta Beltline and checking out our awesome Whole Foods nearby, yay!
So, yeah. Now that it’s back to real life, it’s going to be full swing wedding planning until October. With, of course, my usual posts about clean eats, running and whatever other trouble I manage to get myself into.
I hope you missed my face. Because I missed yours!
Till next time,
